Catholic Men's Fellowship of Florida

The Beginnings

Return to Home Page

Since the early 1990's there has been a growing interest in the men's spirituality movement in our country. One obvious outgrowth of this movement has been the phenomenal success of Promise Keepers within the Evangelical Christian Churches.

Over the last ten years' a number of Roman Catholic Bishops in the United States have recognized the growing interest in the Christian Men's movement and have supported the development of local and regional Catholic men's ministries throughout the country. In California, two local Catholic men's organizations, Men of Promise from the Archdiocese of Los Angeles and Catholicmen Fellowships of the Diocese of Orange were joined to form one large Catholic Men's Fellowship.

Catholic Men's Fellowship (CMF) is a lay ministry of men committed to Jesus Christ. CMF has spread to many Dioceses and parishes throughout the country, from Maine to California and from Washington State to Florida. There are similar organizations in operation in other countries as well.

The parish CMF groups minimally meet on a monthly basis. Some men like to meet weekly, others twice a month. An annual major Catholic Men's Conference is hosted by the Catholic Men's Fellowship Board of Directors. The conferecne is scheduled for the day before the football Super Bowl.

In Florida, a "Married Couples Retreat Week End" is being planned for the Fall of 2005. This will provide the opportunity for men to enjoy a week end "away" with their wives in workshops and prayer that serves to inspire and strengthen each other in marriage.
